About this Session

Role and Impact of the Recovery Coach in AlbertaThe Recovery Coach is on the front lines of addiction recovery in clinical and community settings. Armed with lived experience, the recovery coach is a professional agent of change. The Recovery Coach’s role extends beyond guidance to embody mentorship and advocacy, tailored to each recoveree’s individual journey. Their contribution is vital in both clinical and community settings, from facilitating early interventions in hospitals, and residential and outpatient treatment centers to supporting individuals in correctional facilities, therapeutic communities, and community groups.

Learning Objectives

1. Understanding the Recovery Coach Role: Define and articulate the key responsibilities and characteristics of a Recovery Coach in the context of addiction recovery, including their role as a mentor and advocate.

2. Application of Recovery Coaching in Diverse Settings: Explore the diverse settings where Recovery Coaches operate, such as hospitals, treatment centers, correctional facilities, therapeutic communities, and community groups, and understand how they contribute to early interventions and ongoing support in these environments.
