Occupational Health and Safety Stream Session Highlights:
Recovery, Reintegration and Workplace Wellness
The Occupational Health & Safety Stream brings together leaders working at the intersection of trauma, addiction, recovery, workplace safety, and return-to-work planning.
These sessions will explore how workplaces can better identify, support, monitor, and reintegrate workers affected by trauma, substance use, psychological injury, PTSD, and related mental health challenges.
Trauma, Addiction and Posttraumatic Growth in Safety-Sensitive Workplaces
Exposure to trauma is common across many occupational settings, especially for public safety personnel and other decision-critical workers. When trauma is not properly supported, it can contribute to substance use, mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, prolonged disability, and serious personal and workplace impacts.
Participants will learn how recovery at work can move beyond abstinence, symptom reduction, or resilience alone — toward measurable posttraumatic growth, improved function, and long-term wellness.

Key Topics
- Early identification, assessment, and engagement in care
- Supporting workers in safety-sensitive and decision-critical roles
- Recovery and reintegration after trauma, addiction, or psychological injury
- Posttraumatic growth as a measurable part of recovery
- Peer-driven and workplace-administered recovery models
- Ongoing monitoring, accountability, and workplace safety
- Practical strategies that can be adapted across occupational settings
