Building Recovery Capital with complex needs participants.

About this Session

Over the years, as Pine Lodge Addiction Recovery transitioned from a rural to an urban setting amidst the fentanyl epidemic, the needs of our clients have evolved significantly. A majority of individuals seeking treatment now face chronic homelessness, co-occurring mental health disorders, complex medical needs, and disconnection from support services. These external factors make it challenging for individuals to focus on treatment. At Pine Lodge, we have dedicated case managers to facilitate connections to external organizations for health, housing, cultural integration, social assistance, and any other identified needs beyond our scope of practice. Through these case managers, clients can maximize their focus on educational and group counseling sessions, and develop practical skills to manage their bodies, with support from their primary counselor and case manager. They work together to devise recovery plans, ultimately enhancing their recovery capital during treatment and improving the likelihood of long-term recovery. Learning Objectives: 1) Understanding the application of recovery capital 2) Identifying common deficits among our participants 3) Recognizing the positive impact of building recovery capital on participant outcomes.

Learning Objectives

1) how we use recovery capital
2) what are some common deficits among our participants
3) how building recovery capital improves outcomes for our participants.
