Susan Hogarth BIO

Susan is an experienced business development specialist, working and volunteering in the addiction recovery field.  Susan has built a career at Westminster House, a 40-bed nonprofit addiction recovery program for women, and currently holds the position of Executive Director.  Susan has been instrumental in the rebranding of the Society, the residential service expansion, while building authority for abstinence based sustainable recovery.

Susan is the Committee Fundraising Chair for PNWCNA, a recovery organization that hosts an anonymous convention in the Pacific Northwest.  Susan has surpassed her targeted financial goal to help bring the oldest convention of its kind to Vancouver.

Susan serves on the Board of Directors for Recovery Day BC and brings her financial management skills to the team in the capacity of treasurer and fund development.  The Recovery Day BC event attracted over 4000 attendees in 2016 with a focus on building awareness, challenging societal stigma, and celebrating the role that recovery plays in improving life for individuals, families, and communities.

Susan is a recovery advocate and is involved in the BC Centre on Substance Use, where she able to help to strengthen the provincial system of care for people struggling with problematic substance use.  She believes that recovery capital will provide all the resources necessary for an individual to change their behavior and achieve and maintain recovery from substance use.

Susan believes that removing the stigma from addiction must start with the addict, and as such serves as a role model in her community.
